Kniekontrolle: A Preventive Training App for Sports
Kniekontrolle is a free Android app developed by inventivo and published by the Stiftung Sicherheit im Sport to provide preventive training for sports enthusiasts. The app aims to reduce the risk of sports injuries by offering an effective and tested exercise program that can be used as a warm-up before any sports activity. The app is designed for trainers, coaches, and recreational sports enthusiasts above the age of 10.
The Kniekontrolle program includes six basic exercises, each with four difficulty levels. Once a level is completed correctly, the next difficulty level is unlocked. There are also partner exercises for each basic exercise. The app recommends performing one of the six basic exercises per training session, with two to three sets of eight to 15 repetitions, and 15 to 45 seconds for the forearm support exercise. The entire program should take about 10 to 15 minutes. The app also encourages variation to keep training fun and engaging.
The app was originally developed in Sweden and is now available in German. The German version was created and published by Stiftung Sicherheit im Sport to make this simple preventive training accessible to German-speaking sports enthusiasts. The foundation aims to reduce the number and severity of accidents, injuries, and damages in sports. The Kniekontrolle app was supported by BARMER.
